white cucumber

The rain hasn't started yet.
But i can feel it coming. the strong winds, the cloudy skies. and of course, the super cool breeze =)
The only thing i am looking forward to this rainy season, is the slightly lower temperatures.

Lunch today was simple
Soba with maitake mushroom soup,
topped with nishin (sweet shoyu simmered sardine, that we got from the mart)

which was nice on a slightly cool day.

Dinner was

Broccolli stir fry with squid in garlic squid inert sauce
Broccoli stems julienned and stir fried with sakura prawns
Chawanmushi
and with the white cucumber that we got from the farmer's place, made salad
with charsiew strips

the white cucumber was surprisingly bitter at some spots.
i think they would taste better pickled.

Black natto with fresh boiled white bait

As i was doing some cleaning in the kitchen today, discovered my kiwi fruit vinegar that i made last summer. oops
these are the times i wish i didn't have to separate my trash. (selfish thinking i know)
but the glass bottle can't go into the burnable garbage trash we are throwing out tomorrow.
so either i wear a gas mask and do it or...
*~*
well yeah, J did it for me in the end.
i think he nearly fainted.
