roll cake day

Today is roll cake day.
No i didn't make that up. 6=roku so today being the 6th of june. it is roku roku day. so someone came up with the idea of roll cake day in japan.
Despite the marts and cake shops lining out their roll cakes today, i just wasn't in the mood for any.
I wanted ice cream =)
So we settled for this for tea in the afternoon~
A new flavour by haagan dazs.
in fashion with how the japanese confectioneries come up with various season's specials, the haagan dazs japan company keeps up too.
It was marvellous. my favourite cheesecake flavour with rasberry ripples. wheeheee

Lunch was an experiment.
I wanted to try this recipe i saw on the Kewpie 3 minute cooking show cos when i saw it, it reminded me of dry hor fun. 乾炒horfun?
the chef said she tried this in macau and decided to come up with her own version using oyster sauce and shoyu.
i added some dark sauce to deepen the colour.
the taste? was just so different from the real dry horfun. this was like dry sukiyaki. suddenly i miss the real taste.

Dinner tonight

Grilled inada
freshly caught this afternoon.
a friend gave us a whoel big inada fish and we decided to grill a quarter of it.
it was really yummy being fresh.
corn soup with added snow peas
eggplant and green peppers red miso nimono
natto salad with poached egg

i am looking forward to the sashimi version of the fish in 2 days' time.
according to the pros, the flesh sweetens over time and is best 2 days after being caught.

crossing my fingers for a nice sunny week ahead.
