Refreshing chicken stew?

The whole week has been wet so far, but we saw mostly sun today! Hoho finally managed to do some laundry...

Got this habit of planning what to cook for dinner the day before, so taking into consideration the weather these few days, i decided to cook chicken stew~ but since it got a bit hotter, i made the stew a little less heavy by adding grated daikon.

Dinner

Japanese chicken stew with grated daikon and enoki. The name for this kind of stew = mizoreni.

Melt in your mouth tofu with miso mayonaise topping.

Made this tofu using soymilk and nigari and popping it in the steamer for 25minutes.

Moloheya! Bought this from the vegetable seller this morning. I had thought this was only eaten in Egypt only! I am so glad to find it in Tokyo. Love the smooth and sticky texture of this...

The other side dish we had was steamed eggplant with chinese dressing.

Bento of the day... Made up of left over beef stew from last week. Gave it a week sautee this morning. And added a sweet egg omelette and a mini cucumber and ham skewer.

Matcha tiramisu!!!

made with green tea and rum soaked kueh bolu, layered with vanilla ice cream and topped with powdered green tea.

Grilled fish

This is something i crave most when i am not in Japan... Simply grilled fish. No oil, no dripping sauces.
It IS possible to enjoy fish grilled with just salt, nothing else. But this time i marinated it with 2 different kinds of miso and some wine.

Dinner

Grilled miso gindara with a side serving of pickles i made yesterday

Truffle salt sauteed shimeji served on a bed of warm brocolli salad

chilled egg tofu with crunchy okura

Taking a break from heavy meats

Having had meats for a few consecutive dinners, i decided to do tako ratatouille!
There is no bento today cos we had lunch out =)

Dinner

Japanese octopus ratatouille with a touch of balsamic
Black pepper sauteed giant scallops with eringi mushroom on a bed of crunchy cabbage

Instant tiramisu made with kueh bolu, layered with vanilla ice cream.

Using a one to one ratio of coffee and dark rum and a dash of sugar syrup, i drizzled the kueh bolu with this replacement for kahlua. then layered with vanilla ice cream and topped with cocoa powder!
