hot sandwich

Got myself a new kitchen toy!
from 100yen shop, and made in japan, why not?
when you squeeze a sandwich out of this mold and toast it, you get the same effect as a hot sandwich maker! i loved my hot sandwich maker, but i think in the end the fuse blew and we couldnt use it anymore. plus there was rust due to the amount of cheese i like to stuff my sandwich with and considering the fact you cant wash that hot plate.

anyway,
toasted both the sandwich and its ears
pumpkin cream on salad
hehe, yeah the crust of the bread is called mimi in nihongo, which directly translates to ears.
Jun and i both love bread ears so sometimes when i make egg sandwich and remove the ears, he asks me where did they go.
so today, for our hot sandwhich maker debut,
my and his childhood favs
kaya cheese hot sandwhich

raisin butter to go with the toasted crusts
Jun spent a short part of his childhood in Iwate, where the famous Koiwai dairy farm is located.
The supermart was having a Koiwai fair yesterday, i was excited when i saw this raisin butter cos it reminds me of the steak onboard which always comes with a piece of herb or fruit butter.
but Jun was excited cos he loved this as a kid.

Dinner tonight

renkon (lotus root vegetable) hamburger with shimeji brown sauce
and blanched orange cauliflower florets

Mukago rice
Mukago are roots of the mountain yam nagaimo, and they are cute and round like green peas.
but soft and fluffly like the mountain yam. only available in autumn.

we managed to finish the last bit of oden cos i made use of the super yummy broth to simmer a big bunch of vegetables. =) weeeeeee~ oden finished at last!!!
J was saying he could have a whole week of oden, but when i asked him again after dinner, he said, he could go another round tommorrow, but by then, he would get really sick of it.
so, end of our oden experiment. conclusion, oden cant stretch for more than 2 nights.
solution? having 6 kids will help.
