Something different from the usual croquette,

rice croquette...

Ground chicken meat braised in garlic miso and mixed with rice, spring onions and a bit of chilli slices, coated with breadcrumbs and deepfried.

That was J bento in the 1st layer

yaki soba in the 2nd layer

Dinner
salt grilled asgo fish, May leaves in ume sauce (i dont know why but the name of the vegetable is called gogatsuna which literally translates to leaves of the month of May), mushroom miso soup and...
bamboo shoot and bonito rice

Both of us have been looking forward to having fresh bamboo shoot since we saw it at the supermart the other day. all along i have been buying these shoots that are already cooked, soaked in water and sold in vacuum packs at the mart, so for the first time i am cooking this on my own! plucked up the courage, read about how to do it. bought the big fat bamboo shoot home, scrubbed of the mud, boiled it in water and nuka powder to remove the scum and simmered it in dashi before slicing and popping it in the rice cooker to cook with the rice. phew~ it was worth every effort. the crunch and frangrance of bamboo shoots of the season... =)

The flowers on the tree near my yard are turning from pink to white...
