For a few days i left my Shiso (also, called Ooba) plant in the garden & the poor leaves were so lifeless because of the strong sun, so we decided to put him in the kitchen last night. Ooba san was looking good this morning!

Used a few of the leaves for breakfast onigiri (rice ball).

Made a stock of spicy chicken miso yesterday, and just mixed it with rice for onigiri this morning.

This recipe was from a health magazine featuring the benefits of waking up early & the importance of breakfast. What experts reccommend for people who dont bomb their toilets every morning, is, spicy foods like curry & chilli padi. Not only does it get your intestines working, it wakes you up!
So
spicy chicken miso
150g minced chicken
100g minced onions
100g finely chopped carrots
50g finely chopped celery root
2tsp finely chopped chilli
50ml sake or white wine
1tbs miso
Simply fry the onions in a little oil in the pan.
When fragrant, add the chicken, and fry till the meat turns white, then add sake.
Toss in the rest of the vegetables and fry for 1min.
Stir in the miso and switch off fire.
Voila~
Mix with rice for onigiri, top on toasted baguette, poached eggs, or toss with any salad leaves.

Despite the spicy morning, was just craving curry today.
So for dinner...
Eggplant curry, coleslaw, flat long french beans, radish & melt in your mouth eggs.
When we had lunch at Kurihara Harumi sans cafe on saturday, there was this side salad tossed with mayo & yoghurt, and i loved the combination! So this time i tossed the cabbage strips with yoghurt & mayo, which really matched the spicy curry.

I got these long & flat french beans form the local farmers mart
they tasted like a cross between french beans & sweet peas. sweet~
soya beans tossed with celery leaves dressing (chopped celery leaves stir fried in sesame oil, japanese sour plum, and a bit of shoyu)

curry craving satisfied =)
(for the time being)
