flying fish

The old couple who puts vegetables up for sale everyday outside their garden had green peppers yesterday. they were a very good buy.
i made pizza toast for breakfast this morning with those lovely peppers.

=) hoped it chased some monday blues away

The last time i had fish eyes staring at me from the fridge shelf was months ago when we bought large anochovies.
This time, we had 2 huge pieces of flying fish in the fridge.
hello
simply salt grilled
the smell put me off a little, but the fish meat was sweet & nice!
we had thought it would be an oily fish, but this was really really a skinny dude! fish meat was a bit dry. i think this would taste better steamed or simmered.
with stir fried beansprouts, simmered soybeans, miso soup and konnyaku noodles
konnyaku noodles simmered with some hotpot stock which i froze from last week
super veg miso soup, with potatoes, pumpkin and lots of broccolli.
=)

the first time i tasted flying fish.
never thought they could be eaten and that the meat would be so bland.
looks like a swordfish, but tastes world apart from the standard mackeral type of fish.
not highly reccommended for anyone who has low tolerance for bones though. this fish has pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenty.
