The central Koganei park is having their annual sakura festival over the weekend and we decided to drop by again after the hospital visit.
It was nice to see the festive mood, soak in the rhythm of japanese flutes & drums of various performances, and join in the fun with snacks at the make shift stalls set up for the event.
With all the sakuras in full bloom all around...albeit with people all around too
the place was sooooooo crowded it was hard to move around
unlike the almost empty park last week
Sakuras were blooming all around the hospital too.
And this was the view from the window at the second floor.
pretty isn't it?
Dinner tonight was fusion
Home made bean and vegetable-full meat sauce with campellini pasta
English style pot pie soup
with homemade cream of mushroom soup
the pie dough was store bought, and it is so convenient to have in the freezer!
lettuce leaves topped with katsuo (a kind of tuna like fish)
drizzled with japanese dressing and yuzu shavings
This fish is commonly sauteed only on the sides keeping the inner fillet pink and raw in sashimi form. I used to love this salad, but it seems the smell of the fish is a bit hard to cope with now. I heated my portion up, rid it of the raw fish smell, and it tasted really yummy like boiled tuna!
I have to experiment more with my pot pie recipe. it seems that the corners of the pie stick so firmly to the bowls that we had a flake full dinner table after that! fun to have though since we haven't had this for a long time. Gonna have to research more on having a neater pot pie dinner though.
