Oyakodon

Oyako in nihongo means parent and child. It is usually a combination of chicken and egg broiled in sweet soya broth and topped onto warm rice or salmon slices and salmon roe topped on rice, of which, the latter is commonly found on the menus of sushi restaurants.

Oyakodon is also popular with university students living on their own because it is a fairly simple dish to prepare, and can be made in any part of the world as long as you have rice, chicken, eggs, onions, soya sauce and mirin.
Todays oyakodon was made with japanese leek instead of onions.
on the side korean style cauliflower salad tossed with shiitake and burdock kimchi, and lotus root soup
this was the cauliflower i bought from the local vegetable seller today.
i have no idea why it is orange. wanted to buy the normal white one but they didnt have any today, so i settled for this and i darent ask why is it orange because i thought it was normal. but apparently, according to J, it isnt!
i shall ask the veg stall the next time i pop by =)

i cut up another apple today, and voila! even juicier and bursting with nectar!!!
Pretty isnt it?
