Was elated when i found out Maison Kayser has branches in Japan.
First time i came across this bakery was while i was just strolling around one of the streets in Paris and tried the Baguette de Monge (which i guess, means market baguette) and the madelaine like financiers. I love how those financiers have a crsip outter crust & butter cake like insides! Sadly, both stalls i went to, in Ikebukuro and Ginza, didnt have financiers.
The standard campagne, baguettes, galettes, crossaints, crossaint de amande, etc are sold though. This time i got myself the wholewheat campagne...

to go with the plenty of jams that J brought back from Karuizawa
there were 4 bottles in my bag of souveniors.
Besides this Hibiscus jam, there was, milk & vanilla beans, blueberry & prune & blackberry mix jam, & japanese cranberry jam.

and then there was soba that he brought back, that we had for lunch today

chilled soba topped with crushed walnuts
was pleasantly surprised at how well the walnuts went with the soba!
Just like how walnuts taste so good in whole wheat cereal!
The subtle nutty flavour of whole wheat, accentuated with nuts... hmmmmm

Dinner was something new, that i learnt from tv just this evening at 6 o clock.
Totally changed the menu i had in mind.
topped on stir fried pork slices, corn & kolrahbi.
And with all the seeds that i removed to make the sauce, made a separate tiny dish with them.

with aburaage & shimeji
This time, the kolrabi that i bought was purple! thought it would have a pretty purple flesh, but, nope, it was just the usual white flesh.

Okra is very sticky and slimy, yucky to some people, but in fact this sliminess is what recharges your body, and what the Japanese say, give you energy(genki)!
