purple kurikinton

We have a last batch of mochi to finish before the green stuff grows.
Made a full of vegetables tonjiru (pork miso soup) to go with
With the standard pork, daikon, carrots, burdock, shiitake mushrooms, konnyaku and leeks, added white cabbage too for extra sweetness
kamaboko (pink & white fish cake) with enoki mushrooms tossed in creamy sesame sauce
kurikinton
The standard kurikinton is made with syruped chestnuts & yellow sweet potato.
But we saw the purple sweet potato version at a stall last week, and me and my weakness for all purple foods, wanted to so much to try the purple version. But okaasan usually makes this for the new year bento Osechi, so we didnt buy any.
We came home, i saw the one last purple sweet potato in the fridge. hehe since it was the last, i just couldnt bear to finish it. so it came in handy today! =) happily bought syruped chestnuts and got to making my first kurikinton. hmm... it was really good!!! with my favourite sweet potato and favourite chestnuts, what else can i ask for? yummiest dessert of the day~
