Noticed how the sakura trees are turning greener each day...
So on sunday evening, we had a pretty luxurious dinner...
For the first time, i bought a 1200yen per piece of mentaiko. Also my first time having Hokkaido mentaiko. Most of the time the more reasonably priced ones sold at the marts are processed in Japan but farmed in America or China.
Lightly grilled, so when you sink your teeth in, first the crisp skin bursts, and the the soft flow of mentaiko melts in your mouth...
we had it with vegetable ankake (sticky sauce).
Eggplant is pretty much a typical summer vege, but since i saw some at the mart, bought it.
For dinner on sunday, we had it in a salad. Steamed, then mixed with shredded chicken and tossed in shoyu sesame sauce.
J bento
Mini cheese katsu, tamagoyaki, soba salad...
and sweet shoyu mzrinated sardine & wakame mixed rice
Chicken and eggplant grated sesame miso stew with tomatoes added at the last minute.
Wafu salad ..Norabo Flower vegetables (a bit like the hong kong choy sum) tossed with enoki and crabmeat.Carrot galette

This is amazingly tasty despite the simplicity of making it.
Just one carrot, shredded and mixed with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, spread out in a frying pan with a spoonful of butter, fried for a minute and half each side. salt and pepper to taste.
Ok, so i cant get enough of the yummy bamboo shoots that are in season now...
This was what we had on sunday. lightly sauteed with shiitake and bonito. That was our last bit of the stock i made last week.
i bought another one today...
I just boiled it in nuka (rice powder) this evening, will leave it to steep in the pot overnight to remove the bitter taste.
Looking forward to more yummy bamboo shoot dishes =)
